ACT’s secret weapon has turned out to be a damp squib.

Only six people turned up to hear the neo-liberals’ Messiah at a meeting in Invercargill yesterday. (Compare to this.)

When ACT announced a few months ago that Douglas was to stand on their ticket this year, I confidently predicted that this might see them double their support. Looking at recent opinion polls, and now this, I’m not so sure.

In case you missed it, the reaction of the National MP for Hunua to the announcement that Douglas is to stand there is worth reading.

As a concession to the right, who detest over-regulation and complication, the rules for posting comments on this blog are simple:

1. You must be civil.

2. I decide.

3. No arguments.

I define civility as treating people with respect even if they are misguided or cognitively challenged. Attack their ideas instead.

Since DPF has taken off for a few days of sun on Great Barrier Is — the local greens are said to be arming themselves in readiness, but just with water pistols, you understand — the squad of giddy right-wing toadies collectively known as the ‘kiwiblog right’ must at bit of a loss. So, not wanting to see lesser species suffer unduly, I have undertaken to provide some of the masterful ‘cut-and-paste’ commentary for which KB is noted.
